Licensed Therapist. Writer. Content Creator. Mental Health Educator.

Hi, I’m Kendra.

I’m a licensed mental health counselor and owner of Lissen Therapy. I am devoted to working with women and helping them find satisfaction in life. I’m a firm believer that we have power to create the life that we want for ourselves.

Sometimes, we just need a little help to get there. I am here to help you through the past and current life stressors that may get in your way or may make it difficult for you to see the power within yourself.

I know that with the experience I’ve gained in this field and your drive to become a better you, we can reach your goals.

Lissen means to provide comfort, and to bring relief or solace to. In therapy, I will do just that. I’ll offer comfort and solace as you share the delicacies of your life with me.

One thing to note, therapy is not a magic pill that will quickly heal your wounds, and I am not here to “fix” you. However, I am here to listen to you and offer support, guidance, and encouragement as I believe we are a team.

You are the driver, I’m just the gps system, helping you navigate to a better you.

More about me.

  • My Why.

Since I was a young girl growing up in rural Arkansas, I knew that I wanted to help people. To be transparent, becoming a therapist was not on my mind when I first began to think about my future.

I wanted to help others, by being a doctor, a nurse, and I even considered becoming a health coach for professional sports.

With several changes in my major during undergrad and seeing firsthand the toll that mental health took on several of my family members, I realized that becoming a therapist is what I was placed on earth to do. (Jeremiah 29:11).

Seeing my family suffer from several external and internal factors prompted me to get into this amazing profession. Now, I am able to educate people and provide effective help through therapy.

  • My Approach.

Simply put, my approach to therapy is interactive, understanding, and sincere. I’m not here to judge you or make you feel ashamed about anything that you share with me. I’m here to listen to you.

I believe therapy requires team work. I collaborate with my clients by developing a treatment plan, together, to fit your needs.

I use various evidence-based techniques to better help you reach your goals such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.

To ensure you are receiving effective treatment, I will ask for your feedback during our work together. I understand your time is valuable, as well as your investment in yourself.

  • My Personality.

As far as my personality, I’m often complimented on my warm, inviting spirit when I meet new people. My family considers me as the one who will listen and strangers are comfortable approaching me.

In therapy with me, you will be greeted with the same warmness and acceptance.

I am here to listen to you, encourage you, and to hold you accountable for your behaviors and actions. I create a safe space for you to be open without judgement or shame.

My priority is to listen to you, first, followed by providing supportive and reflective feedback. I know that you are tired of not being heard by others in your life. I’m here with you as you navigate through the psychosocial stressors that you are facing.
